CIPS Overseas Buyers' Perspective on Industry Development vol.1

Date: 2025-01-03

The 28th China International Pet Show (hereinafter referred to as: CIPS) has come to a successful end, with a record number of overseas visitors attending the show, and a 73% increase in overseas visitors compared to the previous year. Among them, 98% of the overseas visitors indicated through the questionnaire that they would plan to continue to participate in the CIPS next year.

The number of people from the United States, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Belgium, Brazil, Russia, Japan, South Korea, India, Southeast Asia, Australia and other countries and regions has grown even more significantly. In addition to the old friends of the Great Wall Pet Show for more than 20 years, more and more emerging forces choose to come to the show to expand their business, and although they are there for the first time, they will spread the news of the Great Wall Pet Show to more places and come with more peers in the future.

We interviewed some of the buyers on the show floor and will be speaking directly to them about the pet aquarium market as they see it.

Can you briefly introduce your company?

RSW International Ltd. is a UK importer with fifty years of development, based in Manchester, mainly importing products such as homeware and leisure products. Through the accumulation and precipitation of long-term development, we have established good connections with many shops and retail outlets in the UK.

The secret of our success lies in our close reliance on a global network of suppliers who provide a stable, high-quality source of merchandise, such as Christmas decorations, pet supplies, baby care, home décor, kitchen utensils and more.

We have also partnered with a number of leading retailers to launch exclusive customised collections.

2

Which products sell well in the UK?

Pet toys, pet snacks, pet supplies.

3

Do you think the global pet industry is growing or stagnating?

Growing again. The global pet industry market is growing very fast until 2020.

During 2020-2022, different issues slowly surfaced and the market growth slowed down or even stagnated.

But now it is growing again, only because of the economic downturn in most of the countries, which makes business development still difficult.

4

How do you see the future of the pet industry in China?

The Chinese market has great potential for growth and has expanded over the years, as demonstrated by the continued increase in the range of suppliers and products.

The pet market in China is now gaining momentum and CIPS has been a great catalyst for the development of the Chinese pet market.

5

Can you tell us about your future

business plans in China?

We have been attending the Great Wall Pet Show for over 25 years, and it was 25 years ago that we first imported products from China. Today, about 80 per cent of our products come from China. In the future, we will import more products from China.

How does this feel compared to your first involvement with CIPS?

It's a different feeling altogether. The CIPS process has become easier and better organised.
