The China International Pet Show (hereinafter referred to as CIPS) series is hosted by China Great Wall International Exhibition Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as GIE), an international exhibition company ratified by the Ministry of Commerce of the P. R. China.

For 28 years, GIE has grown alongside China’s pet industry, witnessing its transformation from nonexistence to global significance. As the industry matured, CIPS developed into one of the most important trade platforms in the global pet industry. The 28 years of CIPS also mark a period of tremendous growth for the global pet and aquarium sectors, the rise of China’s pet manufacturing from scratch, and the shared journey of CIPS with countless industry partners. When the show was first launched in 1997, there were barely any pet product manufacturers in China, and the consumer market was virtually nonexistent. Over the past 28 years, CIPS has not only invited global buyers into China, but also led Chinese companies onto the international stage. Today, China is the world’s largest manufacturing base for pet and aquarium products, and CIPS has become the largest pet trade show in the Asia-Pacific region, and one of only two global pet shows with an exhibition area over 100,000 square meters and more than 1,000 exhibitors. Together with Interzoo (Germany) and Global Pet Expo (USA), CIPS is recognized as one of the world's top three pet trade fairs.

The 28-year journey of CIPS is also a testament to China’s growing integration with the global market and the increasing collaboration among international pet professionals. China has not only become the leading manufacturer but is also emerging as a major consumer market for pet products, with the rising presence of international brands at CIPS reflecting the immense appeal of China and Asia. These 28 years have also been about adapting and growing through change. As consumer needs and markets continue to evolve, CIPS has kept pace by providing insight into industry trends and presenting forward-looking concepts and innovations. In 2014, CIPS launched the China Pet Culture Festival series to stimulate domestic consumption by combining B2B and B2C experiences. In 2015, the Global Pet Forum Asia (GPFA) was introduced; in 2016, the “Great Wall Cup” World Ornamental Fish Championship was established; in 2017, the China Aquatic Culture Festival (series) followed. These initiatives transformed CIPS into a flagship platform for industry communication and exchange—an annual event not to be missed by professionals worldwide. In 2020, CIPS also launched its online edition, enabling a dual-track approach of both online and offline engagement.

Following extensive market analysis and communication with partners, exhibitors, and international visitors, CIPS has made a strategic decision starting from 2025: the exhibition will be permanently held in Guangzhou every year in mid-November, at the China Import and Export Fair Complex, ending the previous rotation between Shanghai and Guangzhou. This timely adjustment reflects the strong alignment between CIPS and the evolving needs of the industry.

GIE maintains close relationships with exhibition organizers across continents—including Germany, Italy, the United States, Japan, Brazil, and Russia—and serves as the official China Pavilion organizer for major international pet shows such as Interzoo, Global Pet Expo, and Zoomark. Every year, GIE organizes thousands of Chinese professionals to exhibit or visit overseas shows, playing a key role in fostering international trade and collaboration across the pet industry.

As China’s pet market continues to mature and expand, GIE has also launched a series of satellite exhibitions in recent years. These events aim to promote quality brands, advance scientific pet care concepts and a civilized pet culture, and support market penetration into lower-tier cities. The series has gained strong support from both consumers and the industry. The 29th China International Pet Show (CIPS 2025) will take place from November 13–16, 2025, at the China Import and Export Fair Complex in Guangzhou.
