PATS (Pet & Aquatics Trade Show) is one of the UK's most influential trade shows for the pet industry, and the 2024 edition, held at the Telford International Exhibition Centre from 29 September to 1 October, attracted more than 340 exhibitors and more than 3,500 industry professionals, representing a 52% increase in attendances on last year's event (figures from the PATS website). For the first time, the show was extended to three days with the addition of the Aquatics Zone, providing visitors with a new showcase of aquatic products designed to meet the growing market demand.
The show's display of innovative and green sustainable products showcased technological advances and market trends in a number of areas of the UK pet industry. For pet industry practitioners, PATS is an important platform to gain an in-depth understanding of the dynamics of the UK industry and to expand into the local market.

The UK pet market: prosperity and innovation go hand in hand
As one of the largest pet markets in Europe, the UK's pet industry has continued to grow rapidly in recent years. According to statistics, around 62 per cent of UK households will own a pet in 2023, with a significant increase in the number of pets, particularly in the wake of the epidemic, driving strong demand in the market. Demand for natural, additive-free and sustainable high-end pet food is growing rapidly in the UK pet market, and innovative technologies such as smart pet products and automatic feeders are becoming mainstream.

This year's PATS not only featured several innovative products in the pet sector, but also added an Aqua Zone for the first time, which attracted a large number of exhibitors from the aqua industry. The show was divided into four zones, covering the entire industrial chain of pet food, care products, accessories, grooming and medical products. In addition, the New Product Awards, a highlight of the show, were selected by a team of professional retailers and awarded during the show, promoting the display and promotion of the most innovative products in the industry.
During the show, exhibitors actively shared their new products and ideas, including a number of innovative brands and products that made their debut. Exhibitors commented that the PATS show provided an ideal platform for them to network with new and existing customers.

CIPS in-depth co-operation with international exhibitors
As an important communication platform for the global pet industry, CIPS actively interacted with exhibitors from all over the world during PATS and strengthened its ties with global partners. The in-depth communication with PATS organisers also reached a consensus on further cooperation, and in the future, both parties plan to co-organise pavilions to promote long-term cooperation and development.

On 28-30 September 2025, PATS will relocate to the NEC Exhibition Centre in Birmingham, further expanding the scale of the show, which is expected to accommodate more exhibitors and buyers. The NEC hall's larger space and easier accessibility will bring more opportunities for exhibitors and a stronger international appeal to the show.
The show organisers say the move to Birmingham will give new impetus to the show's international growth. Exhibitors and attendees have given positive feedback on the change, especially the accessibility and large-scale exhibition space of the show's new venue, which signals that PATS will become a new platform for communication and cooperation in the global pet industry.
