The four-day 29th China International Pet Show (CIPS 2025) successfully concluded the China Import and Export Fair Complex in Guangzhou.The  CIPS Global Betta Championship & IBC Global Carnival was co-hosted by the CIPS and the Small Ornamental Fish & Shrimp Branch of the China Fisheries Association, aiming to spark greater enthusiasm among fighting fish enthusiasts and provide close opportunities for exchanges with experts.

Betta are famous for their elegant, veil-like fins and unpredictable color variations. As they swim in the water, their scales refract brilliant light—sometimes deep blue like the ocean, sometimes emerald green like jade, and suddenly turning into blazing red, as if capturing all the magnificent colors of heaven and earth within their scales.

The event attracted many visitors to watch and take photos, allowing them to experience firsthand the lively charm of small ornamental fish.

What is even more amazing is that through artificial selective breeding, modern betta fish have developed a variety of color strains, including red, blue, green, purple, and black, some even displaying metallic luster and dreamy gradient colors, making them living palettes moving in the water.

This beautiful creature has captivated aquarium enthusiasts not only with its stunning appearance but also given rise to a profound competitive culture thanks to its unique fighting nature. When two male bettas encounter each other, they instantly flare up and extend their gill covers, engaging in a fierce contest like armored warriors.

In Southeast Asian countries such as Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia, betta competitions have long become distinctive events, where participants compete based on their posture, fighting spirit, and endurance. Today, this activity has gained worldwide popularity, carrying forward the traditional ornamental fish culture while injecting unique vitality into the modern aquarium industry.
