Following its successful stops in Beijing, Zibo, Zhengzhou and Macao, the 2025 Fuzhou Goldfish Tour of China arrives at its fifth destination — Guangzhou. From November 13 to 16, the Fuzhou Municipal Bureau of Ocean and Fisheries will showcase premium breeds of Fuzhou goldfish at the 29th China International Pet Show (CIPS 2025), to present the unique charm of the "Capital of Chinese Goldfish" to the world.

Founded in 1997, CIPS has evolved over 28 years into a global barometer for the pet industry, a launchpad for new products, a professional hub for trade transactions, and a bridge for international exchanges among industry insiders.

With the theme of Fuzhou Fisheries to the World, Goldfish Bearing Fortune, the exhibition area ingeniously incorporates Fuzhou's regional cultural symbols — including the elegant and graceful goldfish, the auspicious Chinese character "Fu" (blessing), the saddle wall which is an iconic feature of Min-style architecture, the pure and delicate jasmine flowers, and the time-honored oil-paper umbrellas. These elements combine to create an immersive viewing experience that integrates traditional aesthetics with modern tastes.

On-site, 8 goldfish display tanks were set up, showcasing more than 80 distinctive Fuzhou goldfish. The Fushou variety exudes grace and nobility; the Shitou (Lionhead) boasts majestic vigor; the Diewei (Butterfly Tail) glides with dancing elegance; the Ryukin shimmers with dazzling radiance… Each and every goldfish is a masterpiece of meticulous selective breeding, drawing hordes of professional buyers, industry experts, and public visitors to stop and admire, as well as to discuss potential collaborations. The venue buzzed with a constant stream of visitors and received an enthusiastic response. A delegation led by Mr. Cui Lifeng, President of the China Fisheries Association, also attended the event to visit and offer guidance.

The exhibition area also specially presents the cultural and creative achievements of Fuzhou goldfish, transforming these "aquatic elves" into tangible and perceptible aesthetics of daily life. Goldfish-themed engravings are on display in a centralized exhibition for the first time; works including Prosperity of Family with Plump Fish, Progress with Favorable Conditions and Turn of Fortune endow goldfish with auspicious connotations. A series of cultural and creative peripherals are launched as well — such as goldfish coasters, goldfish carpets and goldfish fridge magnets. These exquisitely designed products fully demonstrate the potential of Fuzhou goldfish to extend from ornamental items to cultural consumer goods.

From a single goldfish to a whole cultural phenomenon, Fuzhou goldfish embodies the craftsmanship of artisans, the transformative power of industrial evolution, and the boundless possibilities emanating from goldfish as a cultural symbol. As these goldfish glide gracefully through the water, Fuzhou is gently yet resolutely conveying its culture of fortune, industry of fortune and ecology of fortune to the world.
