The 30th China International Pet Show (CIPS 2026) will be held at China Import and Export Fair Complex (hereinafter referred to as Canton Fair Complex) in Guangzhou from November 12 to 15, 2026. As a flagship concurrent competition of the show, The 4th Asia Clownfish Competition (China)  has joined hands again with 36 Hai Yang to stage a world-class elite clownfish contest.

Clownfish are widely beloved for their vivid colours, lively behaviour and their symbiotic relationship with anemones. They take centre stage in this competition. Breeders will showcase high-quality captive-bred specimens they have raised, competing for honours, awards and industry recognition.

Competition Divisions & Judging Standards

The competition features three entry categories: Percula Clownfish, Ocellaris Clownfish, and Hybrid/Wild/Open Class. The event demonstrates that seasoned breeders can produce a remarkable diversity of clownfish varieties through selective breeding and refined genetic management.

The Asian Clownfish Championship features three categories.

Class 1: Percula Clownfish

Class 2: Ocellaris Clownfish

Judging for Ocellaris Clownfish centres on conformity to standard body morphology and overall purity. Desirable specimens possess thick, broad white stripes with crisp, well-defined edges, creating a strong colour contrast against black markings. Base colouration should be even and clean, with no bleeding or blurring of pigment. Additionally, the fish must have a compact, well-proportioned body structure and intact, continuous fins, presenting a balanced and robust overall form.

Class 3: Hybrid / Wild / Open Class

The Open Class of the Asian Clownfish Championship undoubtedly best reflects the current state of high-level clownfish breeding across Asia. This class has no strict boundaries for species or strains. It serves as a platform where controlled hybridization, extreme selective breeding and individual aesthetic interpretations can coexist within the same competitive space.

Instead of aiming to replicate established benchmarks, breeders in this class strive to evolve and elevate those standards. Their exploration focuses on the following areas:

- Non-traditional stripe patterns

- Unprecedented colour combinations

- Balance among body conformation, colouration and behavioural expression

As such, the Open Class places the highest demand on the judging panel’s ability to comprehensively evaluate the overall quality of each fish.
