CIPS Overseas Buyers' Perspective on Industry Development vol.4

The 28th China International Pet Show (hereinafter referred to as: CIPS) has come to a successful end, with a record number of overseas visitors attending the show, and a 73% increase in overseas visitors compared to the previous year. Among them, 98% of the overseas visitors indicated through the questionnaire that they would plan to continue to participate in the CIPS next year.



The number of people from the United States, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Belgium, Brazil, Russia, Japan, South Korea, India, Southeast Asia, Australia and other countries and regions has grown even more significantly. In addition to the old friends of the Great Wall Pet Show for more than 20 years, more and more emerging forces choose to come to the show to expand their business, and although they are there for the first time, they will spread the news of the Great Wall Pet Show to more places and come with more peers in the future.


We interviewed some of the buyers on the show floor and will be speaking directly to them about the pet aquarium market as they see it.

Can you briefly introduce your company?

Which of your products are popular in your country?



In Mexico, AZOO imported aquariums, various types of ancillary equipment and fish food and other products are popular among local fish lovers.

Do you think the global aquarium industry is growing or stagnating?


Both China's pet industry and Mexico's pet industry are showing more dynamic development. In Mexico, the aquarium environment continues to progress, and the market still contains great potential for development.


In contrast, the U.S. pet market is located in the middle of the industry chain, with mediocre professionalism and a lack of high-end products.


In addition, the rapid expansion of online business is posing a serious challenge to the industry, which is likely to gradually erode its market share.

How do you see the future of China's aquarium industry?



Over the past five to ten years, the quality of Chinese aquarium products has achieved significant improvements. The quality of many aquarium brands is already comparable to that of EU brands. The Chinese market has always maintained its quest for innovation. The continuous introduction of new products and keeping up with new trends is a positive trend.

Does your company have any plans to work with China in the future?



Since 1998, AZOO has been purchasing fish products through a partnership with a Chinese company, Meijing Marketing Co. (Meijing). In the future, we plan to increase our procurement of Chinese products.

Is there anything else you would like to say about CIPS?



Interzoo in Nuremberg, Germany, and Pet South America in Brazil, despite their size, were relatively sparse in terms of aquarium booths, with both showcasing that there were not many exhibitors in this sector; in contrast, the IIPE Pet Expo in Indonesia had 25 per cent of its exhibition area focused on aquariums, showcasing a much wider range of aquarium companies.


China's aquarium companies have always been innovative, and the fact that there is something new every year is a great help in driving the industry forward. What we are looking for is not a large number of exhibitors, but rather quality companies with real strengths.


It's great to have great encounters at CIPS every year, and we look forward to witnessing the Chinese market flourish in the future, as well as the emergence of products that utilise the latest technology.
