The 28th China International Pet Show (hereinafter referred to as: CIPS) has come to a successful end, with a record number of overseas visitors attending the show, and a 73% increase in overseas visitors compared to the previous year. Among them, 98% of the overseas visitors indicated through the questionnaire that they would plan to continue to participate in the CIPS next year.
The number of people from the United States, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Belgium, Brazil, Russia, Japan, South Korea, India, Southeast Asia, Australia and other countries and regions has grown even more significantly. In addition to the old friends of the Great Wall Pet Show for more than 20 years, more and more emerging forces choose to come to the show to expand their business, and although they are there for the first time, they will spread the news of the Great Wall Pet Show to more places and come with more peers in the future.
We interviewed some of the buyers on the show floor and will be speaking directly to them about the pet aquarium market as they see it.

Can you briefly introduce your company?
Royal Pet Centre was founded in Rwanda in 2015, when it was established it mainly dealt with pet clinics, at that time it did not sell other pet products, over the years my company has grown from a clinic to a comprehensive pet shop.
Since 2020, the company has been expanding its business by importing pet products from Bulgaria, France, Germany and other countries. At that time, I didn't know the Chinese market and didn't know about Alibaba and Taobao.
In 2022, a friend suggested me to visit China and I was impressed by the experience of buying products on Alibaba. After that, I googled a lot of information about the Chinese pet market, and I was looking for a place where I could buy Chinese pet products in one stop.
In 2023, I came to the Great Wall Pet Show for the first time and started trading with Chinese companies.
My industry partners and I agreed that China is ideal for importing pet-related products, with a wider and more adequate range of products. I was the first person in Rwanda to import Chinese pet products.

Which of your products are popular in your country?
Pet food and supplies, due to policy and other reasons, the pet food sold by the Company is mainly imported from Europe and other regions, and pet supplies such as bowls, leashes and collars are mainly imported from China.

Do you think the pet industry in Rwanda is growing or stagnating?
Before 2010, the pet industry in Rwanda was relatively backward, for example, there were no specialised leashes for pets, only ordinary ones.
Starting in 2010, the industry started to boom and food and supplies started to be imported from abroad, and based on this, I started Rwanda's first pet supply sales company.
Now, there are 5-6 pet shops in Rwanda and I think the pet industry in Rwanda will continue to grow.

How do you see the future of the pet industry in China?
China's pet market is too big, the market prospect is broad, you can one-stop shopping for the products you need, the quality of the product is very good, the price is very high.

Can you tell us about your future business plans in China?
Hope to co-operate with more Chinese manufacturers. In Africa, few people are involved in this market. I hope to introduce big sellers and dealers from Africa to China, not Europe, where trade cooperation at the origin is more favourable. In the future, I will come to Great Wall Pet Show with more friends and practitioners.
I also learnt a lot from this show. For example, I knew very little about aquariums before, but through this trip to the show, I decided to start trying to get into the aquarium business.

Do you have any advice for CIPS?
I suggest that the show expand its business territory. The African pet industry does not yet understand the Chinese market, so it is a good opportunity for them to have in-depth exchanges with buyers in the local industry and invite them to come to the Great Wall Pet Show to make purchases.
